My dentist referred me to Dr. Perry for what she thought was a root canal needed. As it turned out, the tooth, root and bone structure was fine. I had an abrasion that caused a local infection in the gum tissue above the tooth. After a thorough examination, it was determined I did not need a root canal, only antibiotics to heal and salt water rinse.

My only complaint is that the Doctor and Assistant kept talking about totally unrelated topics. I felt that this would take away the Doctor's focus on the procedure and could cause him to forget a step.

While a root canal is not something you want to do, it really was no different than having treatment for a cavity. The procedure did not take that long and once the Novocain wore off, my mouth felt very normal.

One minor suggestion...the X-ray receptacle put in my mouth for post procedure X-rays cut the roof of my mouth. Didn't know it at the time as I was still numb but I'm still sore 5 days later, although it is getting better. The assistant, I think her name was Sonja was great and careful so I don't blame her. I unfortunately go to the dentist a lot and they stopped using those implements years ago, maybe for this reason? Anyway, just thought you'd like to know.
