Will I need to return to your office for follow-ups after the procedure is finished?
Yes, for most root canal treatments, we recommend that patients return to the office 1 year after the procedure was finished. Our office will send a reminder notice to you when you are due for a recall appointment. |

How many visits does a Root Canal?
Root Canal Treatment is normally completed in a single visit. There is rare circumstances that may require more than one visit for Root Canal Treatment. |

Will the treatment be painful?
We will take every measure to ensure that your procedure is in no way uncomfortable or painful. If treatment is needed, we will inject a small amount of anesthesia to gently numb a concentrated area of your mouth. For most patients, the feeling of numbness usually subsides after 2-3 hours. |

What type of pain should I expect after treatment?
You may experience some discomfort and biting sensitivity for several days after having root canal therapy. Some patients may experience soreness for a longer period of time. We recommend 800mg. of Ibuprofen every 6 hours for the next 2-3 days. If you feel you need something stronger, please call our office. Try to avoid chewing on your tooth until you have your crown placed to avoid fracturing your toooth. If you have a temporay filling in your tooth, you will need jto make an appointment with your general dentist to have the tooth restored within 2-4 weeks. If you should develop swelling, please contact us so we can treat your swelling appropriately. Please feel free to call with any questions you may have. |
